- Profile Information: Profile photo, business name (for business accounts)
- Payment Information: M-Pesa phone number, payment transaction details (we do not store full payment credentials)
- Delivery Information: Pickup and dropoff addresses, recipient names, contact numbers, delivery instructions
- Communications: Messages you send through in-app chat, customer support inquiries, feedback
2.2 Information for Drivers
If you register as a driver partner, we additionally collect:
- National ID or passport details
- Driving license information
- Vehicle registration and insurance documents
- Good conduct certificate
- Bank account or M-Pesa details for payouts
- Profile and vehicle photographs
2.3 Information Collected Automatically
- Location Data: Real-time GPS location when using the app (for matching, tracking, and navigation)
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, mobile network information
- Usage Data: App features used, time and duration of use, crash reports
- Log Data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps
Location Permissions: We only access your location when the app is in use (foreground) or when you've granted background location permission for active deliveries. You can manage location permissions in your device settings.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide Services: Process delivery requests, match you with drivers, enable real-time tracking
- Process Payments: Facilitate M-Pesa transactions, process driver payouts, generate invoices
- Communicate: Send delivery updates, receipts, promotional offers (with consent), and service announcements
- Improve Services: Analyze usage patterns, optimize routes, enhance user experience
- Safety & Security: Verify identities, prevent fraud, investigate incidents, resolve disputes
- Legal Compliance: Comply with applicable laws, respond to legal requests
4. Information Sharing
We share your information only in the following circumstances:
4.1 With Other Users
- Customers can see driver name, photo, vehicle details, rating, and real-time location during deliveries
- Drivers can see customer name, pickup/dropoff addresses, contact number, and delivery instructions
4.2 With Service Providers
We work with third-party companies that help us operate our services:
- Payment processors (Safaricom M-Pesa, Paystack)
- Cloud hosting providers
- Analytics services
- Customer support tools
- SMS and notification services
4.3 For Legal Reasons
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of MzGo, our users, or the public.
4.4 Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred to the acquiring entity.
